Kathy (Kathleen) Hernandez Wright

My husband Michael Sr., died October 20, 2018 (we were married for almost 53 years). My life will never be the same...for a very long time...I couldn't breathe, swallow, my life was on hold, had to learn to do all the things my husband did for me. Today, November 16, 2020, I am okay. My family, friends and a new friend keep me busy...Our son and daughter-in-law (Mike Jr., & Stacy) will be married 30 years tomorrow, November 17, 2020. Our granddaughter, Kaitlin, is a Socio-Cultural Anthropologist and is working on her Master's Degree (she just turned 25). I am blessed. Blessings to all of you who read my story.

Married young; raised a great kid; and still married to the same great guy (Michael!). We live in Sutter Creek, CA., the Jewel of the Mother Lode, Amador County. It's beautiful, peaceful and somewhat quiet.

Over the years, I have engaged in several careers of which I gained knowledge from each one.

Today, I am a "Bead & Fiber Artist" which is my passion! I started my business in 2010. I presently Lecture and Teach "Quilting n' Beads" (Been beading for 15 years+) I have been sewing since Barrett Grammar School in Belmont, CA. and Carlmont High School. I knew one day I would put it all to good use...I'm pretty well known in El Dorado County and Amador County. I belong to two Quilt Guilds, and am an Associate Member of Another. A portion of what we do through the Guilds is give back by providing community service to needy organizations.

I also work part-time for my husband, Michael Sr., who's been with the same company for 22+ years. I was hired by the company 5+ years ago to work for him. Our offices are in our home. Our territory is Northern California. Michael inherited a Dealership (Digilock Security Key Pad Locks) from Jeff Crossley (yes, Sue and Nancy Crossley's brother). I, on the other hand, went to work at 65 and learned the Digilock business. I handle the United States, Canada, Mexico and Hawaii.

My life is full and I wouldn't change a bit of it! I'm very active, walk every day and swim when I can.

Mike and I share as much time as we can with family (who moved near us and live in Cameron Park), our son (Michael Jr.), daughter-in-law (Stacy) and granddaughter (Kaitlin (Katie for short), who is presently finishing up her 3rd year at California State University (CSUEB). Her Major is Anthropology; and Minor is English Literature.

I'm blessed and grateful for all the good things in my life, despite the challenges Michael and I have been faced with the last 50+ years!

I'm grateful for each and every day I wake up!!! Old or not, I make the very most of every day I'm given. I think positive and am optimistic. Life is a gift! I try not to waste one moment of it...more to tell some other time...
