In Memory

Colleen Kinsler (Case)

Per information received from Marlene Skirrow Baumgarner via an obituary in the Maui News dated March 22, 2011:

"Colleen Case (nee Kinsler) of Kahului, was born in New York and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She worked in sales and real estate in California, and moved to Maui in the late 80's.  There she worked at Liberty House and at WalMart until she retired.  She is survived by her stepfather, her sister, nephew, and niece.  She was predeceased by her father and mother.  After a few years of poor health, Colleen is now at rest at Valley isle Memorial Park in Haiku on the island she loved".

Colleen was my closest friend in third grade, the year I arrived in San Carlos from San Francisco, and from Australia before that.  I was reeling from all the changes my family had undergone, but our daily walks home, which always included talking to Mrs. Mayor at the "Little Store" (Devenshire Market) comforted me and helped me to feel more settled.  We stayed friends until I moved to Belmont in seventh grade, then kind of lost touch with one another.
