Wayne Culp

I received this from Wayne Culp's sister on May 6, 2016:

Harry Bettencourt

I am the sister of Wayne Culp, Carlmont Class of 1965. I want to let you and your classmates know that Wayne passed away April 5 of liver and kidney failure. He had been ill for about a year. He was accepted for organ transplant, but unfortunately his general health failed. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia of Fremont; his 3 children, Kristy Culp Leonard of San Jose, Callie Miller of Los Angeles, and Jamison Culp of San Diego; twin grandchildren Ian and Carus Leonard of San Jose; and siblings Sharon Culp of Fremont, Stephen Culp of Hayward, Carolyn Culp Trimble of Hollister, and Barbara Culp Rizzi of Arnold, CA. He was previously married to Kathy Delucchi, also a Carlmont graduate (class of 1966 or 1967?). Could you please forward this email to the Carlmont Class of 1965. Thank you, Sharon Culp, Carlmont Class of 1964

Obituary from the San Jose Mercury-News:

Wayne F. Culp

Dec 3, 1947 - April 5, 2016 - Fremont, CA

Wayne Culp led a life full of adventure. His love for nature was infectious and his family is grateful for all of the camping, fishing, backpacking, rafting and adventures they enjoyed with him.

He served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. He worked for Pacific Bell for 30 years. He was an avid fly-fisherman and spent the last ten years bringing his knowledge to schools where he, along with The Mission Peak Fly Anglers, initiated the first ever Trout in the Class program at various Bay Area schools. As a member of MPFA, he proudly volunteered his time at the Livermore Veteran Hospital. He loved to cook and was known among friends and family for always bringing the best meals to events - whether they were easy picnics or tough treks to the backcountry.

He is survived by his wife Cynthia, his daughters Kristy and Callie, his son Jamison and stepchildren Garrett and Marissa.

To honor his love of the outdoors, his family will be holding an outdoor celebration of his life on May 14 from 12 - 4 pm at the Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area at the North Ensenada site.
