Marlene Skirrow (Bumgarner)

Thanks to everyone for their wonderful comments -- we on the planning committee commented to one another several times during our two day event that the work we had done was so very worth it to see everyone enjoying themselves, and to get to see and talk to so many people.  We were having a great time, just as you were.

I echo Jim Bettinger's comments about the Carlmont tour; I actually thought it might be rather boring, but the opposite was true.  I left the campus optimistic about the future of Carlmont and thrilled to have learned the wide variety of educational and creative opportunities being given to today's students there.

A couple of people have come forth to say they'd like to put another get-together on in the future; I do hope that comes together.  We have lots of resources and suggestions to share.

This is probably a good forum on which to post your interest, rather than on your private profile - that way they'll all be in one place.

Great job to the entire team.  Brenda (class of '67) and I had a great time at every event.  You all really did it right.  It is always so enjoyable to share time with those who we grew up with, many all the way from elementary school.  The school tour was a real eye opener for us.  In many ways the school was hard to recognize, but hey, it's only been 50 years!

Barbara Robertson Green,  Harry and his team did a fantastic job. The location for the event was also perfect. The hotel provided a fine menue. Loved seeing friends from Belmont  from elementry school and high school. We didn't miss a beat and took up where we left off many years ago. We may look different on the outside but our person is still the same on the inside. I would also like to help with another get together. This reunion was bitter sweet as I thought it was the last but it seems there may be another one.

Allow me to add my two cents' worth: Heidi & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Many thanks to Harry, Pete, Tom, Bill, Renee, Louise, Lynette, Pat and Marlene (whew!) for organizing the reunion events; great job! I especially enjoyed the opportunity to chat with my old bandleader Rusty Reed at the school tour.  Also a  surreal touch having San Carlos High's reunion right next door! Thanks again; looking forward to the next version (God willing!)     Gordon Block

To all,,,,last weekend was such a GOOD time!  Thank you to all who came.It was  so wonderful to see who we all are now.  Not too many have really changed too much, OK, hair color and body shapes perhaps a bit different but the energy was there. THANK YOU  to the organizing committee - you accomplished a huge task beautifully!

I truly agree with the messages posted about our 50th Carlmont High School Reunion. I (as reminded by several classmates, Lolee) and oldest daughter Cynnamon traveled from Columbia, Missouri; very much enjoyed ourselves (dressed up as Hippies). I also want to thank the reunion committee-Harry, Renee, Pete, Tom, Bill, Louis, Lynette and Marlene (I hope I remembered all of you). You ALL did a fantastic job!!! planning and organizing a very special/memorable weekend. The cocktail party was GREAT!, one on one reconnecting with classmates, delicious food, good conversation, laughing and remembering old times. School tour was very informative on how our school has GROWN (I felt pride) and brought back old/lost memories. Thank you, to Pat and Sue for the transportation and the drive through my home town of Belmont/brought back many memories of my childhood. The Dinner/Dance on Saturday, it was GREAT to see a room full of 68/69 years olds...LOOKING GOOD! having fun/reconnecting with their youth, loved the souvenirs and food very taste.  I plan to come to the next get together/reunion. I'll add my thanks to the committee and to all who attended.  After spending most of the last fifty years out of the state, and only recently semi-retiring back to the Monterey Peninsula, it was so enjoyable to reminisce and rekindle relationships and memories.  All the events were well done, the tour was very special, and the turnout for a 50th was impressive. It was terrific to see and catch up with so many friends and learn about lifes adventures and experiences.  Thanks so much, and I look forward to the next one!

Someone told me that Julie Hayner on channel 2 news is related to Randy Hayner.  Does anyone know if this is true?

Jim G lived in Alden Court Belmont when we were in grammar school.  It is sad when a fellow classmate passes.  He was a very fine and kind man as I remember.  My condolences to his family .

Hi Everyone,

I am sure that it will come as a shock to all those who were at the reunion to hear the very sad news that Kathy Darnell Norris passed away this week.  I am so grateful that she and I made the decision to attend the reunion, spend time together, and have the chance to catch up with a few close friends.

Kathy was taken ill very suddenly while having a great time with her daughter and granddaughter, and she passed away after a very passionate fight to get better. Her husband, Darryl Norris, graduated from San Carlos High in '66, and Kathy's younger sister, Judy, was a '66 graduate of Carlmont. Kathy did a remarkable amount of traveling in her life--all over Europe, starting in 1968, when she visited me in Germany, and continuing when her son was stationed and then lived in Spain and Germany, as well as all over the US--with sisters, husband, kids, and grandchildren. She and Darryl had such a great time together, following the Giants and the 49ers and being largely responsible for any success of either team.

There is a huge hole in my life now, but I am so glad that we had time together, both at the reunion and at New Years; I just thought we would have a lot more time together.

The family asked me to post the details of the service for Kathy:  The Chapel of the Pines 2855 Cold Springs Rd Placerville Ca 95667 on Monday April 11th at 11:00 am.

Always sad news.  Kathy was a special person.  Although I did not know her well, we both came from Homeview and were in all grades together.  She and Liz were very close, alll through scouting and school, and I'm deeply sorry for her loss.

Yes, so sorry to hear about Kathy.  Life is so precious. This morning I have a hundred things to do, such as, make more room in garage, cut a piece of oak for my wife, blow leaves off the front patio, change oil in truck, pay some bills, or take the 3 hours I need, and visit my 96 year old mom today in Belmont. With all due respect to Kathy and her family, this message about Kathy tells me I need to visit mom.  Sometimes we get caught up in the "thick of thin things",  There will always be time to change the oil in my truck.  My prayers and condolences to Kathy's family.  Sincerely, Tom Larsen

Wow! Liz you're so right. It's such a shock to hear about Kathy so soon after the reunion. I had breakfast with her and you the day after the party. She seemed so good, bubbly and funny as I always remembered her. Kathy and I had a special bond in high school because we attended speech therapy together. I was a stutterer, and she had a problem with her tongue. She was diagnosed as a tongue thruster, which I kidded her about all thru high school, and even at the reunion which caused stomach aching laughter all night long. I'll always remember her spunky personality and always enjoyed kidding her about being height challenged. Tom is right: Life is so short. You never know when your time will come, so enjoy everyday.

Liz:

Thank you for sharing this very sad news.  What a shock.  I, too, am thankful that the three of us had a chance to sit down at the reunion (albeit too briefly), to tell stories, laugh, and just remember the good times we had at Carlmont and at parties at various homes.  And I, too, am SO glad that you chose to attend the reunion.  I know that Kathy was a big factor in making that happen and I am very glad that she pushed you as hard as she did.  I'll remember that evening for a very long time and I am thankful both you and Kathy were a wonderful part of it.
